Above is a most delicious dish called “Bibimbap” that I ordered from Taka Japanese and Korean restaurant several weeks ago (I’ve been a guilt-ridden blogger for not posting earlier). The ingredients are deceptively deconstructed, being egg, sesame seeds, rice, shredded turnip, carrot, spinach, ground beef, bean sprouts, mushrooms and cucumber. The magic of this dish is the heated stone bowl it is served in. Mix all ingredients together, and they continue to cook together. Best is scraping the caramelized bits off the bottom of the bowl with a special metal spoon. Be sure to add the bibimbap sauce, which is sweet and spicy. The pickled cabbage condiment adds an element of sour and completes this edible symphony! Bibimbap costs $11.95 and includes miso soup and artfully sectioned orange for dessert.
