Terra Restaurant 1st Anniversary Lunch
Today Terra Restaurant in Kamloops is celebrating their first anniversary. Passing by, I could not resist popping in, and even though I didn’t have a reservation, was seated immediately after which friendly server Amanda began to ply me with tasty food and drink. I opted for the Italian Soda version ($3.50) of Terra’s entry in the Tourism Kamloops Cocktail 2012 competition, named The Spirit of the Black Sage (see ghostly history of its namesake here). Blackberry and sage pair very well in this beverage, and had it been later in the day, I might have imbibed the alcoholic original. For eating I chose the Farmers Flatbread ($11). The toppings for this lunch entree change periodically, and relect local food items available from day to day. The sweetness of the chiffonade basil, squash and green beans complimented the tomatoes, olives and feta cheese. This flatbread was served with my choice of soup - gazpacho or corn bisque. I opted for the gazpacho, and while it was not icy cold, had a kicky bite and many complex flavours. After I had devoured the meal, I was offered a complimentary mini cheesecake, served in Terra’s signature mason jar. Mmmm…blueberries, mint and cheesecake. A dessert so cute I was almost fangirling over it! I recommend this restaurant and if you try it, please comment and let me know what you think.
